Nandita's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase a new sewing machine and some stitching materials for her tailoring business.

Nandita's story

Nandita is a 33-year-old married lady and a mother of two children. She lives with her family in Coochbehar district of West Bengal. One of her children reads in grade 6, and the other one is a toddler.

She operates her own tailoring business to give financial assistance to her family. She makes ladies' garments such as frocks, salwar, petticoats, blouses, and other garments and sells these to the local garment shops. Nandita’s husband Nishikanta is engaged with a potato-vending business. His income is insufficient to fulfill their family’s daily needs. So, her business is most important for the family. She works from home. She always enjoys her work and hopes that one day she will be able to open her own workshop.

For now, she needs a loan to replace her sewing machine that is damaged by over usage through the years. So, she has taken a loan from Kiva's partner BJS. She wants to utilize the amount to purchase a new sewing machine and some stitching materials. She hopes the loan will help her increase her profit and work more effectively and efficiently.

Her dream is to provide higher and good-quality education to her children so that they can be established in the future.

She gives her hearty thanks to BJS and Kiva.
