Airene's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy fertilizers, pots, nets, seedlings, plastic, and wires needed in planting ornamental plants.

Airene's story

Her name is Airene, age 45, and a resident of Silang, Cavite, Philippines. She is married to Crispin, a gardener. About half of the Philippines' population live in rural areas and Airene's family is one of them. She took advantage of the cool climate and fertile soil in the upland area and started an ornamental business.

She been growing ornamental plants for five years already. She grows garden plants like golden shower, ylang ylang, and bromeliads, and a variety of hanging plants. Her regular customers are local tourists, neighbors and the nearby community. This has been a good source of income to provide for their everyday needs.

To plant and grow healthy ornamental plants, she is requesting a loan in the amount of PHP 13,000 to buy fertilizer, pots, nets, and various seedlings to grow a variety of ornamentals. The challenge in this kind of business is when her plants suffer infestation, so she is really focused on taking care of her farm. Her earnings help cover their daily sustenance.

Airene dreams of attracting more customers and she and her husband always living a happy and quiet life. She faithfully meets up with her co-fellowship members to share stories of her work every week and draw strength and inspiration from the Word of God she studies.

* All CCT community partners/clients are organized into fellowship groups that meet on a weekly basis. A fellowship group is composed of 15 to 30 community partners. The fellowship groups gather each week to study the Word of God, build social capital and pay microfinance loans.
