A loan helped To generate enough capital to expand his money transfer business in Malawi.

Edgar's story

Edgar is 42 years old and married with three beautiful little girls who are currently busy completing their primary schooling. He resides in Lilongwe, a picturesque town in Malawi where he runs his own money transfer business.

While running his business, Edgar has seen lots of positive development in his community. The local economy is being boosted because he is creating employment. He also eliminates the ridiculous distances that locals need to travel in order to send or receive money for basic needs such as food, education and family maintenance.

However, because of the recent Malawian economic crisis, Edgar finds himself limited by financial constraints. He would like to generate enough capital to expand his business as part of the Zoona franchise, so that he can continue to be a force for good in Africa.

He would also like to eventually further his education. He hopes to someday become a business analyst as he believes that learning is something that transcends age. He would also like to be financially stable enough to invest in the life goals of his daughters so that he can afford them all the opportunities he missed out on growing up in a poverty stricken community.

Zoona has done market research and has found that the areas Edgar is looking to expand into would be ideal for the growth he envisions for his business.

Edgar thanks the Kiva lenders for their support in his endeavours.
