A loan helped to buy rams for fattening and resale.
Yakene Group's story
Fatoumata is the representative of the Yakéné group and the woman showing the ram in the photo. She is 35 years old and comes from Mali. She lives with her husband (a farmer) and her three children ranging from ages 4 to 10. Only one of her children goes to school. In order to help her husband cover some of the household and children's expenses, Fatoumata raises sheep. She buys her animals at the local market, she fattens them, and then resells them for a profit of 30,000 CFA francs. After five years of experience in this field, she is taking a loan from the RMCR to buy two sheep (rams) and some fodder to fatten them up (oil cake, salt, bran). Once her sheep are fattened, she will be able to resell them at the public market and will earn 40,000 CFA francs per sheep. Fatoumata will use her profit to pay the school fees of her child who attends school and to buy clothes to all her children. She will also provide them with better healthcare. Her dream is to provide for all the needs of her children.
