Yoardis Manuel's story

Yoardis, age 31, is a very dynamic and hard-working man. He studied at an academy for bread- and pastrymaking so that he could become an employee at a company in the food industry. When he graduated, he was able to find a job and acquire more knowledge.

However, he did not limit himself to being an employee all his life, so he started his own business in a space in his home. The product line he produces consists of frozen appetizers (small empanadas and croquettes), which he offers on trays to neighborhood stores, cafeterias, and event venues. Every day of the week he starts his production at 7 a.m. and works until 6 p.m.

Since demand has increased, he needs to manage greater volumes of ingredients. Yoardis is applying for his first Kiva loan through the Mario Santo Domingo Foundation to buy flour, cheese, meats and chicken, to maintain more inventory in order to fulfill orders in an opportune manner. Yoardis sees himself in the future with employees and with a higher level of sales, and thus he will be able to fulfill his dream of having a house of his own.
