Tungteeya - Nlala Fong Group's story

Adishetu is 48, married and has five children. She lives in Karaga in the Northern region of Ghana. She is the woman seated first at the left, with the hand raised in salute. Adishetu is a member of a group called ‘Tunteeya - Nlala Fong,’ which means, “our net has widened.” She has been engaged in petty trading of assorted provisions at the local market for five years now.

Adishetu dreams to grow her business into a big store to meet the demand of her community. She is working towards achieving this dream through a loan request from Grameen Ghana to support her business. She and her group have therefore asked for a loan of GHC 11,100. Her share of the loan is GHC 1,000, which would be used to buy stock of provisions (bread, sugar, tea, etc.) to sell.

Adishetu wants to get good income from her trade to support her family with the basic needs such as food and clothing. Adishetu knows she is in business because of Grameen Ghana and Kiva partnership for which she thanks her lenders.
