María Estrellita's story

There is a neighborhood called San Pedro in the city of Manta, a city known for its beautiful beaches that are very popular to visit in every season of the year by both Ecuadorian and foreign tourists. Manta is one of the most important ports in the country and in America, located on the shores of the Pacific. In the San Pedro neighborhood, the Grupo de Crédito Acción Femenina meets every 15 days.

Maria is 50 years old, she is married and from this relationship she has three children. Two of them are adults, and the youngest one is 16 years of age, studies in High School, and is the one who still lives with them. Her husband is a refrigeration technician.

She is a woman who likes to earn her own so that she can take care of certain necessary expenses in her home. With the help of her first loan that she received 16 years ago, she decided to begin working in commerce. She began to sell clothing and natural products from Avon, both of which she still sells to this day. As this work gradually improved her life, she opened a small shop in her home 8 years ago, which has grown as time has passed. With the help of the loans, she also has display cases in her shop in which she displays garments and other products which she sells. She works everyday, and her son and husband help her in the shop, since she sometimes leaves to go out and sells garments and Avon products in the neighborhood.

She will use this loan to buy supplies, clothing, and natural products from Avon. She has been with the Grupo De Crédito for more than 16 years, and she likes it because the loans always improve her business. Her goals are to continue ahead with her business and she hopes that her shop grows more everyday.
