Avelino Vicente's story

The Mulaute district is located to the northwest of Pichincha province in the “San Miguel de los Bancos” canton. It is a beautiful, quiet place with a hot humid climate, where many foreign and local tourists like to spend vacations and holidays enjoying one of its attractions, the Mulaute river, which is very busy year-round.

Vicente, a hardworking man, lives in this district with his wife and son, whom he still supports. He has his own farm, and is engaged in is such activities as coffee production and processing coal. He has fixed weekly deliveries and, in this way, he has been able to support his family. Now, he wishes to purchase two dairy cows. He has a lot of experience, and his wife will also help him. He has the necessary grass on his farm, and he will deliver his production to the district’s collector. He knows that it is a profitable business that doesn’t generate many problems. He expects to dedicate an average of two hours a day to caring for the livestock, and maintaining the pasture.

With this business, he wishes to improve his income so that he can provide his family with a better future. Vicente is grateful to Fundación Alternativa and Kiva for their support, and the opportunity they are offering him to move forward and have a better future.
