Suhudoo Ashibiti Yapala Fong Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy maize for production of "kenkey" as well as soft drinks for resale.

Suhudoo Ashibiti Yapala Fong Group's story

Maami is a hardworking 49-year-old businesswoman who lives in Karaga in the Northern region of Ghana. She is the mother of five children aged between 3 and 20, all of whom attend school.

Maami is a member of a group called Suhudoo Ashibiti Yapala Fong Group, located in Karaga. "Suhudoo" literally means Peace. She is the woman seated third right with the hand raised in the group photo.

Maami sells "kenkey" (a local dish made from maize) and soft drinks in the local market in Karaga. She has been in this business for the past seven years and now has three employees. Maami is, however, challenged with inadequate capital.

Maami and her group have applied for a loan of GHC 14,200 after paying off a previous loan of GHC 14,000. Maami wants GHC 400 out of the total request to buy maize for production of kenkey as well as soft drinks for resale.

The loan would help Maami increase her capital to be able to earn more income to pay off this loan and support her children. Maami thanks Kiva lenders for the opportunity to grow her business.
