Mrs. C., 28, was chosen to be the group leader by the fellow borrowers of the loan. C. currently earns $4 a day by selling vegetables in the market. She also owns rooms that she rents out to customers for alternate income. She is married to Mr. Ny, an internal staff member of a mobile phone company. The couple lives with their two teenage children who are attending school. The family had built their house a long time back. However, the house still requires more furniture. C. is therefore applying for a loan to purchase additional equipment to decorate her house. The other three borrowers are V., V. and S.. V. owns a room that she rents out to customers. She needs a loan to buy a trailer for her husband's service. V. too owns and rents out rooms, and she seeks a loan to build a hedge around her house. S. is a grocery seller who is requesting a loan to increase her grocery inventory size. All the borrowers live in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia.
