Kousar's story

Kousar is 61 years of age is and the mother of one daughter, who attends school. She lives with her spouse and child in the area of Multan, Pakistan. Her husband is responsible for fulfilling the needs of the entire family.

Her husband owns a scrap shop. He has been working since 10 years ago to meet the family’s expenses. He deals in scrap goods like scrap iron, aluminium, plastic bottles, and waste papers. He has been purchasing scrap goods from hawkers and selling them to the recycling factories.

Nowadays, Kousar’s husband wants to invest in his scrap shop for proper income, but due to insufficient financial means, he is unable to purchase scrap material. The challenge Kousar’s husband is facing is to have sufficient capital to run the business and to be able support their family in its present form.

Therefore, Kousar has applied for a Kiva loan from its field partner BRAC Pakistan. With the help of this loan, Kousar’s husband can purchase more scrap material to earn an income. Kousar and her family will be thankful to Kiva, its lenders, and field partner BRAC Pakistan for helping them by funding this loan to improve their living standard.
