Uttala' Group's story

Uttala is a divorcee standing to the left-hand side of the photograph. She hails from a small village of Odagaon, Odisha, India. Having two sons and a daughter in her care, Uttala has been engaged in an applique business for the past two-and-a-half years. She has inherited this art form from her ancestors.

Her applique products vanish from the market like anything, due to the huge demand and craze among the customers. She, being an industrious and dedicated lady, devotes almost four to five hours a day to accomplish her work skillfully and with neatness. She is considered a balanced lady because over these years, she has been able to balance both her work and personal life very well, and her children consider her a very caring and loving mother.

Uttala, along with her group member, is requesting a loan amount of 30,000 INR from Kiva's partner People's Forum. She will use her portion of the loan amount to purchase colorful fabrics, glitter, ribbons, and applique-making materials in bulk so that she can increase her volume of output. In this way, she can meet the ever-rising demand of the customers for her products and enjoy a happy and healthy living with her children.

Uttala is in dire need of your kind help and is eagerly awaiting the same with endless hope.
