but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase premium-quality clay, colors, and paint brushes in bulk.

Rukuna's Group's story

The lady standing to the left-hand side of the photograph is Rukuna. A resident of a small village in Odagaon, Odisha, India, Rukuna is a divorcee with three daughters and a son in her care. What can be more pathetic for a woman, if her husband leaves her in the middle of their married life? Being a headstrong and an independent-minded lady, although illiterate, she took the responsibility for the whole family on her own shoulders and started earning for her family.

She has been engaged in making clay diyas (lamps) for the last four years. Her lamps are in high demand in the market due to the beautiful designs and embroideries and the unique color combinations that make them more attractive.

Rukuna, along with her group member, is requesting a loan amount of 30,000 INR from Kiva's partner People's Forum. She will use her portion of the loan amount to purchase premium-quality clay, colors, and paint brushes in bulk so as to increase her volume of production and beautify more homes and shops with her products' attractiveness.

Rukuna is eagerly awaiting your kind help and support and aspires to make all her daughters married in good houses someday in the future.
