Prabitra's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to purchase seeds, pesticides and manure for cultivating broad beans.

Prabitra's story

Prabitra is a 39-year-old, married lady. She is a housewife and lives with her husband and their three sons in a small village of Raypara in Dhupguri, West Bengal. She is illiterate but can sign her name.

Prabitra's husband is an experienced farmer. He is the only breadwinner of the family. Farming is the important source of income for them. He grows different crops and vegetables on their farmland. Prabitra helps her husband in his field work. They sell their products in the local market.

Now Prabitra and her husband want to expand their agribusiness by cultivating broad beans on a larger scale in this season. They hope this farming will give them much profit, as broad beans are an in-demand crop in West Bengal in the summer season, and this season is the best time to produce this crop. Thus, she applied for a loan from Kiva’s partner BJS to buy good-quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, etc.

She hopes she will get a good harvest in the upcoming summer season and earn better with the help of this loan. She wants to save money for the higher education of her children from the increased income. Prabitra and her husband are thankful to their lenders for helping them to maintain their business.
