Awa's Group's story

This group of six people is a part of the banc villageois that was created on 12 December 2012. The group members are all women and live in the same village and surrounds. They get along well and share a sense of solidarity. They work primarily in commerce and livestock farming.

Ngoye, who is standing on the right in the photo with her left hand raised, is the featured borrower of the group. She is 35 years old, married, and a mother of two children, of whom one is a boy. Ngoye has been the assistant in the committee for the banc villageois for years and does her duties well.

Ngoye has also worked in commerce for years, and with this new loan, she plans to buy sacs of sugar. She will also buy drums of oil and cartons of tea. She buys and sells her goods in the weekly markets and in the village.

With her earnings, she plans to save in the banc villageois and help her husband with the daily expenses by buying food for the family and clothing for her children. She also will buy goods to strengthen her business and satisfy her customers.
