Ah Kei Gyi Village Group's story
Located in Ah Kei Gyi Village in Myanmar's Ayeyarwaddy Delta region, this community is comprised of 27 village customers who are overseen by five Community Based Organization (CBO) members. This loan will help some of the group to purchase both ducks and ducklings that will produce more duck eggs and thereby boost incomes. Group members will use the funds to buy additional ducklings and high-quality feeds. Ah Kei Gyi Village has over 2100 populations and most of the villagers focus on crop farming. They also plant seasonal vegetables and fruits such as coconuts and banana. For additional income, the households also raise livestock, pigs and ducks. Pictured above are the CBO members of Ah Kei Gyi Village Group, named Mya, Khine, Aye, Yin and Thin. Included in the picture is Mya (second from right). He takes good care of his duck livestock, as well as manages a small plot of farmland. He is married and has two children who are studying at primary school. His wife often helps him look after the livestock. Mya will use Proximity’s loan to repair his duck farm and purchase high-quality feeds.
