Arabiatou's Group's story

Created on August 25, 2011, the banc villageois of Karantaba is composed of women living in the same village. They are very energetic and engaged in various business activities, from vending to farming. There is good rapport among the group members. Ms. Arabiatou (the one seated on the far right raising her hand) is the star borrower of the group. She is 52 years old, married and has five children: three sons and two daughters. She sells sugar and palm oil. Arabiatou has a long experience in this business. She buys palm oil at the weekly markets of nearby villages. With her new loan, Arabiatou plans to buy four bags of sugar and five jugs of palm oil. She uses her revenues to pay for everyday expenses and her children's school fees.
