but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy 20 young pigs.

Nael's Group's story

This group, comprising seven members, is part of a Banc Villageois created on June 25, 2002. It is made up of very dynamic women who, for the most part, all live in the same neighborhood and enjoy good relationships with one another. Their main activity is small retail, livestock fattening, and the preparation of meals. Oumy, 41, is the group's featured borrower. In the photo, she is standing on the right hand-side and raising her hand. She is married and the mother of two boys and five girls. She has been fattening pigs for several years and has a great deal of experience in this field of work. Oumy will use her loan to buy 20 young pigs (at a price of 12,500 CFA francs per unit). She will use her extra money to buy some bran as feed for her pigs (each bag of bran costing 9,000 CFA francs). She will resell each pig for a price of 20,000 CFA francs. Oumy will use her profits to buy food for the family, which will help her husband with their day-to-day expenses. She will also pay her children's school fees and help one of her daughters who is a college student.
