Estrellas Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped to buy wool at wholesale.
Estrellas Group's story
The communal bank "Estrellas" is starting its 3rd loan cycle with Pro Mujer. They meet in the Panamericana central office. This communal bank has 9 members and is led by a board of directors where Leocadia is the president. The members of this group have a variety of businesses, including: selling blankets, selling fruit, growing fruit, selling produce, selling baskets, and selling vegetables. This loan will benefit all of the small businesswomen in the group. Leocadia states that this is her 8th year as a member of Pro Mujer. She joined at the invitation of a friend who is a client of the institution. She now has a business making and selling blankets. She got to know this business by learning it over a number of years through her own initiative. Leocadia will use this loan to increase her capital (to buy wool at wholesale). She will buy the wool from the wholesalers in the city of La Paz, and will later make the blankets to sell from her stall. By working this way, she can generate resources to contribute to the family's finances. She is married and has 3 children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, Leocadia answered that she likes the training and health services offered by the institution. In the photo you see only 8 members because Olga had to leave the meeting early to go to work.
