Ruben's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase a solar system to replace the use of candles and ocote, therefore improving the living conditions of his family.

Ruben's story

Ruben lives with his family in a remote town named El Llano, in the Mexican state of Guerrero, one of the poorest of the country. Like many of his neighbors, he lacks electricity in his household. Thus, they depend on candles and wood to illuminate the house during the night and to have light to do tasks after the sun goes down.

Ruben is worried about his family's health; some of his neighbors have been diagnosed with pulmonary problems related to the use of candles and ocote in closed places. Besides, candles and ocote are an inefficient and expensive source of light.

Ruben wants to purchase a solar system that will provide a healthy and non-toxic illumination source inside his house. Also, it will allow his kids to study more hours. He will be able to save almost 120 MXN per month.
