Nasani is a farmer, age 54, and married with 6 children and 3 dependents living in Kyenjojo, Uganda. He is a banana grower specialized as his sole economic activity, but supplemented by trading in bananas for additional income. He has achieved a lot which has enabled him to pay for his family needs like school fees, clothing, and shelter. He is planning ahead to modernize his plantation through use of improved methods of farming and planting improved banana species with shorter periods in order to have higher output. Nasani is requesting the loan to weed and mulch his banana plantation. By doing this, he will reduce the effects of long sun spell as one of the challenges he faces. In addition another challenge is unstable banana prices which fluctuation and go down in the season when bananas are plentiful.
