A loan helped to invest in more goods to increase his income.

Erikan's story

Erikan is 38 years old and lives in the town of Bwera in the Kasese region of Uganda. He is married and has five children with two of them currently in school.

For the past four years, Erikan has been working hard to manage his retail shop, which sells maize flour, beans, rice and other essentials.

To help expand his business, Erikan has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to invest in more goods to increase his income. It will help Erikan to generate greater profits and provide enough basic needs for his children. Erikan hopes that in the future he will be able to have a better life with his family.

Erikan is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Erikan who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
