Nelson's story

Nelson is 30 years old and lives in the town of Kamwenge, in the Fortpotal western region of Uganda. He is married and has four children, three of whom are currently in school. For the past three years, Nelson has been working hard to manage his retail shop, which sells essential goods.

To help expand his business, Nelson has requested a loan of 2,500,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more variety of essential goods, which will increase his sales and attract customers, and will help Nelson to generate greater profits and improve his family's well-being.

Nelson hopes that in the future, he will be able to expand his business into a wholesale shop, which will further increase his income.

Nelson is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Nelson who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
