Sharam Mai's story

Sharam Mai is a 48-year-old widow living in the area of Multan, Pakistan. She is a mother of five children, one of whom attends private school. Sharam Mai has been running an embroidery business for 10 years as a way to meet her family's expenses. Her embroidery business is very famous in the colony, and that is the reason her business runs well. Due to good relations, her business has increased. She is a brave woman. Sharam Mai wants to meet the demand for bridal dresses. That is why she needs to buy threads, fancy cloths, sequins and pearls of various colors in advance, so that she has them in stock. She requires some capital to buy the desired items but does not have sufficient cash on hand. Therefore, Sharam Mai humbly requested a loan from BRAC Pakistan. With this loan, she will be able to buy the threads, fancy cloths, sequins and pearls of various colors that she needs. Sharam Mai and her family will be thankful to the Kiva’s lenders and field partner BRAC Pakistan for helping them by funding this loan to improve their living standard.
