Teddy's story

Teddy is a 40-year-old married woman with 5 children, 2 attend school. They live in a small urban town of Zanna in the Kampala west region of Uganda. Teddy has worked hard to manage her stationary shop for 4 years. She sells text books and office supplies.

Teddy has requested a loan of 2,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda to expand her business. The loan will be used to stock more office supplies to attract her customers. School resumes next month and children will be going back to school. She plans to increase her sales. Teddy will earn greater profits and meet her family's basic needs.

Teddy is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Teddy who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for micro-loans.
