A loan helped to buy embroidery raw material for herself.

Hameeda's story

Hameeda is a 50-year-old woman living in the area of Multan, Pakistan. She is a mother of six children, three of whom are daughters and three of whom are sons. Three of whom attend the govt. school. Two daughters have spouses and one son is married. Hameeda's husband is responsible to fulfil the needs of the entire family.

She started running an embroidery business eight years ago to meet the other household expenses. Her embroidery business is very famous in the colony, and that is the reason her business runs well. Due to good relations, her business has increased.

Hameeda buys materials such as a hand-embroidery kit, ribbon, needles and an embroidery machine from the market. Another person handles her transactions with her customers.

She has decided that she would like to sell her embroidery items directly in the market, so she can earn a better profit for her family. She has become an expert in the embroidery business.

So Hameeda requested a loan so she will be able to buy raw materials from the market. She wants to meet the demand for bridal dresses. That is why she wants to buy thread, fancy cloths, sequins and pearls of various colours in advance, to have on stock. She requires some capital to buy the desired items but does not have sufficient cash on hand.

Therefore, Hameeda humbly requested a loan from BRAC Pakistan. Through this loan, she will be able to buy the thread, fancy cloths, sequins and pearls of various colours that she needs.
Hameeda and her family will be thankful to KIVA’s lenders and field partner BRAC Pakistan for helping them by funding this loan to improve their living standards.
