Elvira's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy fabric by the bolt to increase her production and to pay for her baby's expenses.

Elvira's story

Elvira is a 35-year-old woman, married, and she has 3 daughters aged 1, 10 and 15. She has a tailoring business.

She is optimistic, independent and has a good attitude. Her business is located in the "16th of July" zone, characterised by the informal trade in all the areas and by the market on Thursday and Sunday, where -according to what it is being said- it is possible to find anything from a needle to a truck.

Elvira has cinnamon-coloured skin, dark and passionate complexion, and her hair seems a piece stolen from the night so dark and long that tangles around her neck; she is a woman who has inherited the inca physical traits. Her mother tongue is Aymará which she learned as a poem recited by her mother, and only known by her family members and life companions.

She is sharing her life with her husband who makes a living as an electrician and with her daughters who are studying at the school. They live in a rented room built with adobe and they are lucky to have drinking water, electric energy and sewage.

Her education is basic and she was lucky to take part in a dress making course, where she learned to sew and produce garments. She bought a sewing machine with her husband's help and a loan, which allows her to take care of her family since there are not many jobs for people without education.

"My machine is small and I buy the fabric in small quantities, that is why my production is low..." she explains. Her business success is due to the fact that her customers know her work and look for her. The advantage of her business is that she has many customers, the disadvantage is that she has a young daughter with whom she is not very mobile. Her dream is to buy more sewing machines and to increase her production. She would like to buy fabric in bulk to expand her production. This is the first sequence of loans with the institution in the 3 years that she is carrying on this activity.

These are the reasons why Elvira is requesting a loan to buy fabric by the bolt to increase her production and to pay for her baby's expenses.
