Maria Leonila's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped purchase a heifer to raise on husks left over from the corn she uses in making tamales; and, in addition, to help her granddaughter in her studies.

Maria Leonila's story

Maria, who is 58 years old, studied only to the first grade. She married when she was just 18 years old and had her children. But, due to family differences, she had to divorce her husband. Now, she lives in her own house with a granddaughter who is 15 years old and is now in her second year of high school.

Maria sells 'pupusas,' a popular Salvadoran snack, and also baked bread, in addition to her other domestic activities. She learned this business from her mother and, thanks to this type of work, she has been able to maintain and educate her children.

Maria needs this loan to purchase a heifer that she hopes to raise on husks left over from the corn she uses in making tamales. In addition, she wishes to aid her granddaughter in her studies.

Maria dreams of improving her house and helping her granddaughter in her education until she arrives at the university and becomes a professional.
