Above All Group's story

Josephine is a 56 year old woman from Assin Fosu, the Assin North District in central Ghana. She is married with five children. The ages of her children are 19, 24, 29, 31 and 34 years old. One of her children attends school. Josephine is a member and leader of the Above All group. Josephine was a chop bar operator. She owned a restaurant where she prepared and sold local foods such as banku, fufu and omu tuo. Due to her age and health condition, she has been advised by her doctors to quit the chop bar business. She is now involved in small-scale trading. She owns a shop in which she sells provisions and beverages. Josephine plans to expand her business and increase the stock in her shop. Frequent power outage is a challenge to Josephine's business. A loan of GHS 6,000 will help her expand her business. The current loan will be used to increase the stock of the current shop. Helping Josephine will enable her to increase her profit margin and she will be able to cater to her needs and her children’s education. This will help to alleviate poverty and prevent her dependence on her children in her old age. Josephine and all the members of Above All group are grateful to all their micro lenders for their help and support.
