Kahinju School's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase two water filtration systems and provide clean drinking water for its students.

Kahinju School's story

Greetings from Uganda! This is George. He is the Head Teacher of Kahinju School, a mixed school of 1000 students in the rural area of Fort Portal. Kahinju has requested a loan to cover the cost of installing and maintaining two UV water filtration systems. These will help the school to provide clean drinking water for its students. The school does not currently have access to consistently clean drinking water, and therefore has to spend a considerable portion of its budget on firewood, which is used to boil water for the children. Installing two water filtration systems will therefore save the school money in the longterm as the cost of firewood will be reduced. The loan will enable the school to purchase two UV water treatment systems with two 450 litre tanks, which will be big enough to store clean drinking water for the students everyday. Kahinju School will repay their loan using their school fees, which they collect each term. George ultimately hopes that having access to safe drinking water will improve his student’s concentration and attendance by reducing the number of children that fall sick from water-borne diseases. He hopes this will increase the number of students attending school.
