Total loan: $1,400

Lusaka, Lusaka Province, Zambia / Services

Nomusa's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase a trading booth and a mobile phone which she can use to service her customers and help people in her community send and receive money.

Nomusa's story

Nomusa is 20 years old. She is the first born in her family, living with her mother and three younger sisters. As the oldest sibling, it is Nomusa's responsibility to help her mother take care of her sisters financially. She completed high school in 2013.

Through hard work and demonstrating the ability to succeed, Numosa has been given the opportunity to start her own Zoona mobile money franchise. She is excited about the opportunity to increase her income and improve the livelihood of her family. Nomusa will set up her booth in one of Lusaka’s most densely-populated locations. She says that by setting up the business in this location, people in that area will no longer have to travel to the town center to access financial services.

When Numosa gets her loan, she will use it to purchase a trading booth (like the one she poses with in the photo) and a mobile phone which she can use to service her customers. Nomusa is confident that her life will change once she starts running her own business. She sees the business as a way to empower her sisters, whom are all in school. She states that this opportunity means a lot to her, and she will work hard to grow her business, expand to new areas, and earn more income to support her family.
