A loan helped to buy three washing machines and clothes to sell during Christmas season.

Johana Paola's story

Johana is a 29-year-old woman. She is a mother of two children, who are eight and four years old, and she is living with her partner in a neighborhood of Cartagena de Indias.

She started her business of a launderette in 2014 with the support of her husband. He provided her with the capital to buy two washing machines. However, with the profits she was able to save and she bought two more. Today, she has seven washing machines and also prepares meals and sells several goods.

What Johana likes most is that she is able to stay with her kids while she is working. This way she is not neglecting her family and generating an income.

She is requesting her first kiva loan with the Foundation Mario Santo Domingo to buy three washing machines and clothes to sell during Christmas season. With this loan she will be able to extend her service capacity and her income will increase.

Her desire is to have 20 washing machines and learn a professional trade.
