Ta Mawt Hpyar Village Group 2's story

This community is located in Ta Mawt Hpyar Village, Ayeyarwaddy Delta region and has an estimated population of over 3,000 residents. The population in the rural areas has begun to decrease due to urban or international migration, raising labor costs. For this reason, livestock such as ducks have become critically important to increase income to offset these costs.

In Ta Mawt Hpyar village, the majority of households farm either owned or rented land. This loan will help some group members purchase both ducks and ducklings that will increase their income from duck eggs. The remaining group members will use the funds to purchase high-quality feed. Five CBO (community based organization) members oversee a group of 24 village customers.

The picture above shows the five CBO members from Ta Mawt Hpyar Village, known as Khin, Myo, Soe, Maung and Shwe. Khin (standing on the left) is married with three children, all in secondary school. He and his wife look after 110 ducks and chickens. Proximity's loan will enable Khin's family to purchase high quality feed that will increase his income from more duck egg production and larger, better nourished ducks.
