Aprocap Group's story

Aprocap is part of a special project exclusive to growers and is maD. up of members of the Vacahuasi community in the Ocros district, Huamanga province. The community is located next to the Pampas River, which forms the boundary between this and the Apurimac district. The community focuses its efforts mainly on cultivating fruits such as oranges, papayas, avocados and mangoes. Mariano is a member of the Communal Bank and lives with his partner and three children, aged 3, 6 and 8. He has worked for 9 years growing avocado trees, having been trained in their care. He currently has 80 to 90 trees and will use his loan to buy fertilizer and insecticides. Mariano dreams of his children becoming professionals. Fortunato lives with his partner and has three children, aged 9, 14 and 18. He has 60 avocado trees and intends to plant more, to which end he intends to buy fertilizer with his loan. Fortunato dreams of increasing his production capacity and of his children becoming professionals. The growers of the Vacahuasi community need a 12-month loan, due to the year-long harvest, which will be invested in cultivating produce. It will be repaid following this year period.
