A loan helped to purchase wholesale wood.

Flor De Rosa Group's story

The "Flor De Rosa” (Flowering Rose) communal bank is in its thirty-ninth lending cycle with Pro Mujer, as a part of Centro Focal Villa Adela. The communal bank is made up of eight members and overseen by a board of directors, of which señora Rosalia is the treasurer. The members' businesses are varied and include: dress rentals, furniture making, cosmetics sales, selling llama-wool blankets, selling hats, selling wooden decorations and running a beauty salon.

The loan they are taking out will benefit small, micro-entrepreneurs, of which señora Rosalia is one. She says that she joined Pro Mujer twenty-five years ago at the invitation of a friend who was a client at the institution. Currently, señora Rosalia has a carpentry business. She says that she learned the business from her parents and through some courses that she took to become even more specialized. She decided to start her own business a number of years ago.

The loan señora Rosalia is taking out will be to increase her capital - to purchase wholesale wood that she will acquire from the stands in El Alto. After fabricating the pieces of furniture, she will sell them from her sales stall. This line of work allows señora Rosalia to generate income to support her family financially. She is married and has two children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, señora Rosalia says that she likes the health training and savings offered by the institution.
