Malika is a freshman at the American University of Central Asia, Department of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Here is her story: “The university tuition fee is like a making an investment for one’s future. As my father says, the more you invest, the more you get in your life. And I believe in it. I entered American University of Central Asia, because AUCA provides an excellent educational background. The course of FYS (First Year Seminar) is very important, since here we start to construct our first academic speeches in English. It is very important for further self-development. My family consists of six people: my father, my mother, my grandmother, me and my two younger brothers. My grandmother is 83 years old and a pensioner. My younger brother has health problems and visits a doctor often, and gets special treatment. My youngest brother is in kindergarten, but this year he is to go to school. We live in an unfinished house, which has been under construction for almost for six years and is not finished yet. Unfortunately, our current financial situation will not allow us to finish it soon. The Kiva loan is a new project in Kyrgyzstan, something unfamiliar for most of our citizens. So I am happy to have a chance to receive one as a student of AUCA. One more time it shows that AUCA has the best partners and it provides modern life conveniences. I really believe that Kiva changes one’s life and I hope that one day I will become a Kiva lender myself.”
