He has always aspired to introduce value addition in order to make his clients happier and make the farm more profitable. The activities he has been running have been generating just enough income to cover his monthly business expenses and the basic necessities of the home. He is counting on the support of Kiva lenders to access a loan that will enable him to pay for a posho mill (grain mill). With this loan, he will be able to process the maize grain and sell it as a finished product. Ugali is a staple food in Kenya, made from maize flour. The posho mill will also generate income from other families looking to grind maize grains they have harvested. Joseph is very motivated with this big project because it is the tipping point for his family. Triumph in efforts to elevate their livelihood will make him feel much more than pride.
