Scarlyn Patricia is a young student in medicine and she will use this loan to continue her studies. This is her story: My name is Scarlyn Patricia and I am 17 years old and I live in Higüey, a province of Altagracia. I live with my mother and my two younger brothers. My father passed away three years ago and my mother is who has been responsible for raising us on her own. She currently works as a cleaning lady in an office. Since I was 11 years old, I have wanted to help and serve others and that is why I want to study Medicine, because I see it as an opportunity to help on a larger scale. I began my studies in this field and I have just begun my first trimester. I am taking general education classes and my favorites are life sciences, chemistry and biology. The truth is, I need this loan because I do not have sufficient resources to pay my school costs and if I get this loan it would change my life because I would be able to achieve all I have dreamed. I know I can do so on my own with hard work and dedication. My goal is to finish my studies and become a great doctor, one of the best. My dream is to have my own practice where I will help lower income patients. I also want to be able to help my family financially and I want to serve as an example for other young people in my country. When I finish my core studies I want to specialize in Cardiology because I like this area of medicine.
