In the department / state of Quiché these textiles are in high demand. Juana, 30 years old, knows this and for this reason she is dedicated to weaving typical “cuts” skirts. Juana's traditional textile business is a family business. Every afternoon, she fixes the thread on a metal tool called a "wheel." Later, her husband and two employees weave "cuts" on two-story looms. With the income obtained, Juana is providing a better quality of life to her 3 children, ages 18 months to 14 years. Juana requests her first loan from Kiva to buy silk thread in bulk. She was able to go to school for 2 years. However, her monthly educational trainings, part of the “Microcredit Plus” loan, education and health services program, benefit her greatly. She learns to budget, plan, and invest.
