When you walk into Emmanuel’s office for construction services, it’s a bit surprising to see the company values and aspirations painted on the cinder block walls. But that’s the kind of young leader Emmanuel is – ambitious, hardworking, and values-driven. As a result, Emmanuel has gained a lot of recognition in Rwanda and in neighboring countries, which has increased the demand for his products. The previous loans from AEC helped Emmanuel buy machinery and purchase land to expand his production facility. His capacity and profit increased, and reduced expenses such as rent. He had around 30 employees but after the previous loan, he increased to 45 employees. Even as many production challenges abound during COVID times, the construction industry in Rwanda remains strong, and Emmanuel has not seen a decreased demand for his products. Another loan will help Emmanuel procure raw material for his products so that he can meet the increasing demand. With this loan, he is planning to hire an additional 40 casual workers and 3 permanent workers – an incredibly valuable social impact right now as Rwanda’s economy rebuilding after lock-down.
