Raised in Torrington, CT, I have always been a self-motivated leader with a passion for learning . I spent my undergraduate (Smith College), Graduate (Columbia University) and Post-Graduate Studies (U of Washington) developing skills that would lay the foundation for my ability to adapt to changing situations and think strategically and critically in any situation. I spent the first 11 years of my post-graduate career climbing the corporate ladder in the Biotechnology industry working in fields such as technical support, marketing, product management, sales and sales management. After having my son in July of 2015, I realized that I wanted to use my business expertise and passion for leadership to help other new mothers. I left my corporate job and started my first business, A Mother's Boutique, which was designed to help new mothers on their breastfeeding journeys. I grew this company from a home-based business into a retail store servicing mothers in the greater Pittsburgh area. Although I carried may different solutions for nursing mothers, the most popular was the tremendous selection of nursing bras and my ability to professionally fit every size and shape. In 2016, in response an outpouring of requests from my customers and people in my community, I changed my business model to focus on bras and lingerie for everyone - expanding my focus from nursing bras to all bras. My focused changed to help those who had the most difficulty finding a properly fitting bra - those who needed sizes not commonly found in big-box or chain stores. I am proud to feature the largest selection of sizes and styles in the United States - carrying over 50 different manufacturers and more than 250 different sizes. My son has always been the inspiration for my business - from my desire to help breastfeeding mothers to my desire to show him how hard work and dedication really pay off. So when I re-vamped my company in 2016 to create my current business, it was my son who inspired the name. At the time, he was reading and intrigued by greek and roman mythology. I searched for a name for my business that would utilize mythology and have meaning to what I was doing. When I found "Levana" - the word comes from the Latin "Levare" which means "to lift" and Levana was the Roman Goddess of childbirth - this word perfectly connects my past in breastfeeding and maternity to my present in providing the best lift and support around and honors my son who loves mythology. It was the perfect name for the latest update to my business model and I started operating under this DBA in 2016 when I re-launced as Levana Bratique.
