- We loan because:
- We strive to educate our members and others about world needs and provide opportunities to offer support.
- About us:
- The Charleston Junior Woman's Club (CJWC) is a civic, nonprofit organization, founded in 1966. All members of CJWC are united by dedication to community improvement through volunteerism.
The CJWC leadership stresses community involvement among its members, who in turn donate their time and talent to numerous organizations.
In addition to several volunteer opportunities, club members participate in annual fundraising events in order to raise funds for local charities. During the year, social activities and events for members allow them to learn more about one another as well as the club's purposes and goals. CJWC participates in State and International Conventions in its connection to the General Federation of Women's Clubs where is it recognized for its service and leadership within the community. This connection provides club women with networking opportunities within the general federation.

What is Kiva?
Kiva is the world's first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend directly to unique entrepreneurs across the globe. As a lender, you can choose who to lend to -- whether a baker in Afghanistan or a goat herder in Uganda -- and as the entrepreneur repays the loan, you get your money back. For more information view our About section.
What happens if I join this team?
You register for your own Kiva account, and as you lend to entrepreneurs, you can choose to "count" your loans towards your team's impact. The loan is still yours, and repayments still come to you - but you can also choose to have the loan show up in the team's collective portfolio, so the team's overall impact will grow!
How do I make a Kiva loan?
Select an entrepreneur on the Kiva website, checkout, and receive updates as the entrepreneur repays the loan. At the end of the loan term, re-lend repaid loan funds to a new entrepreneur or withdraw them from Kiva. To get to know a few of the entrepreneurs fundraising now, view our Lend page.
