With the help of this loan, they will be able to meet their immediate financial challenges and at the end of each month, they repay their loans by using their monthly salaries. Their financial officer is directly responsible for deducting the repayment and pays SMT/Kiva lenders on their behalf.

John is the leader of this team. A native of Matamp village in northern Sierra Leone, the 48-year-old is married and has nine children attending primary, secondary and tertiary institutions. John has requested this loan in order to invest in agriculture. He will buy four bushels of rice seeds and pay labor. He will also use a part of the loan to pay school fees for his children.

Musa is the leader of this team. The 42-year-old is a native of Port Loko. He is married to a businesswoman, and they have one child who is attending secondary school.  Musa has requested this loan in order to buy house building materials for the completion of a house he had begun. He will buy iron, corrugated zincs, board, paints, cements, etc.

Fatmata has been a businesswoman for twenty years now. Currently, she sells cooked rice with sauce. With her share of this loan, she will buy cooking ingredients like uncooked rice, palm oil, onions, tomatoes, fish, etc., in large quantities in order to cook a larger quantity of rice and sauce for sale.

Haja has requested a loan of 5,000,000 Sierra Leonean Leones (SLL) from Kiva field partner, Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT) in order to expand her business. She will use the loan to buy the above-mentioned items wholesale to add to her current stock. In this way, her business will improve both in size and quality, attracting many customers to her business.

Fallah will thus be able to take better care of his child and wife.

With the help of this loan, Yeabu will invest in her business by buying tomatoes, margi, onions, pepper, salt, flour, beans, oil, etc., in large quantities to expand her business.
