$600 of $1,025 raised.

Started raising funds on Apr 28, 2012

Jenny is a 40 year old entrepreneur with two young children. She currently lives with her children and husband in the district of Cantón de Orotina in the province of Alajuela.

Jenny is an entrepreneurial woman who has spent the past 10 years handling her business. The business has been an important support for the family's income and in addition it generates employment: two people from the community receive the merchandise and earn income to support their homes as well. Jenny started this activity in order to work from the house and be close to raise her young children. The business allows her to not only take care of the children but also to generate income from the home.

In the beginning she asked for a credit from a product distributor, paid punctually, and initiated her business with a small capital. In 2006 she requested a loan from Fundación Mujer for 500.000 for the purchase of merchandise, which she paid off 3 months before the established date.

It is a consolidated activity that has 2 large suppliers and 2 young people in addition to Jenny who sell the product in the zone. It is a well-structured small business.

The activity offers a great variety of products including underwear, tights, bathrobes, boxers, bras, children's games, and pajamas, among others. It generates employment in the region and in addition demonstrated an excellent payment conduct with a previous loan. More capital is needed in order to purchase more products, since they have attracted new customers and need to cover new requests.

In her native Nicaragua, she obtained a baccalaureate and studied accounting but to due to poverty and looking for a better future for her children, she came to Costa Rica close to twenty years ago. With effort and work she acquired her own home where she lives with her spouse and their children. She is very interested in putting into practice her beauty knowledge and to manage her own business, given her accounting education and her abilities in the area of beauty.

With the help of her family and her own effort, she has qualified and acquired the necessary equipment for beauty and barber work. She needs some capital to buy a barber chair, a hair washing sink, mirrors, and to fix the lighting in the shop, among other things, with the objective of opening her doors and offering this service along with her friend.

She completed an income projection in accordance with experience with customers from previous jobs, in addition to information gained from a microenterprise course that helped her.

She rises early and readies lunch for her children and spouse and sends her young daughter to school. Later she goes to her salon where she works from 9AM to 5PM, returning home at the end of the day. She trained in the area of beauty and barbering and along with a colleague who specializes in massage and feet, they decided to open a salon in the area of San Antonio del Tejar in Alajuela. She has worked in this branch since 2009 and has been accredited with the titles for the development of this activity, which has the support of the Ministry of Education of Costa Rica. Her dream is to have a chain of salons in the area where she lives.

 $400 of $5,575 raised.

Started raising funds on May 9, 2012

Annia is the secretary of the group called Banco Mujer Siquirritos. She is a young woman, professional and a hard-worker. At 30 years old, she is married and the mother of 4 children, all minors. Her husband occasionally works as a painter and his income is very low. Because of this, Annia has always looked for ways to help improve the family's financial situation. She started a business as a street vendor and sells clothes, shoes, wallets, purses, and jewelry.

This is the third loan she has asked for and the previous loans have helped her invest in capital and strengthen her business.

It's important to highlight that Annia is a teacher with a Bachelor's degree for teaching both primary and secondary school. However, she has not been successful in finding steady work in the national education system. Therefore, she has realized that by managing her business well and with a lot of work, she can earn a good income.

Her goals are to practice her profession and to have steady and stable work, but also to have a store that offers all of the products she currently sells. By doing this, she can improve her family's quality of life and continue supporting her husband with the household expenses.

Besides Annia there are 7 other women that are also dedicated to commercial activities and services in this group.
