Meet 34-year-old Kabba from Waterloo eastern area in Freetown. He is married with 3 children between the ages of 4 and 18 years. His children are currently attending school. In 2010, Kabba established his general merchandise business. He began his business because when he completed his secondary school education there was no means to further his education, so he decided to start as a pretty trader. He works at the business 12 hours per day and 7 days per week. He says that the main challenge to his business is transporting goods from the city to Waterloo which is very difficult. Kabba requires a loan in order to buy more milk, sardines, cigarettes and soft drinks. He hopes that the extra income from this loan will allow him to improve his business and further his education.
