VisionFund Indonesia
Indonesia
VisionFund Indonesia is a Christian micro venture capital organization owned by Mitra Masyarakat Sejahtera (MMS) and Wahana Visi Indonesia. The organization has been involved in microfinancing activities since 2000 under MMS. In 2010, VisionFund Indonesia was set up as the legal structure for implementing microfinance.
VisionFund Indonesia operates in Indonesia, which has a huge untapped market. Of 42 million microbusinesses in Indonesia, only 16 million have been served by MFIs so far. As of September 30th, 2011, VisionFund Indonesia currently is serving more than 8,500 customers through 9 branches in Jakarta and Surabaya, and aspires to grow the businesses rapidly but in a sustainable manner.
VisionFund Indonesia’s main target are the entrepreneurial poor who have existing microbusinesses for at least 6 months and have no financial access to commercial banks. VisionFund Indonesia provides microloans (ranging from US$50 - $600) through solidarity groups consisting of 5-10 poor business people, with no physical collateral, payable in 6-12 months with repayment frequency of weekly, biweekly or monthly. Loan officers typically collect the repayments during meetings. VisionFund Indonesia also offers individual loans. VisionFund Indonesia provides microinsurance for all clients through a partnership with Allianz insurance company.
By providing better alternatives to access credit and microinsurance, VisionFund Indonesia has helped transform the lives of many families. VisionFund Indonesia collaborates with World Vision Indonesia by striving to build client capacity through business management modules, financial literacy, and values trainings, which promote personal development. VisionFund Indonesia operates with the understanding that by equipping clients with knowledge, in addition to capital, clients will have the tools to sustain and, eventually, grow their businesses. VisionFund Indonesia primarily serves women, under the notion that as women are able to achieve higher incomes, they will directly invest to improve their family’s quality of life, and they will instill good values in their children. VisionFund Indonesia continues to explore methods to increase outreach to people in impoverished regions.
Vision: “Our vision for every child, life in all its fullness; Our prayer for every heart, The will to make it so".
Mission: “Providing financial services to empower the enterprising poor to liberate their families from poverty in the communities where World Vision works.”
