MFC Bai Tushum and Partners has functioned in the microfinance market in Kyrgyzstan since 2000. During the 10 years of active work and development, the company has transformed from a Financial Fund (non-governmental institution) to a Microfinance Company.
For this period of successful work, the company has accumulated extensive positive experiences which is being actively applied in its credit activities. This experience allowed Bai Tushum to achieve the status of one the leading microfinance institutions not only in Kyrgyzstan but in all of Central Asia. In 2009, Bai Tushum held 25% of the total volume of loan portfolio of all microfinance institutions in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Bai Tushum means "rich harvest" in the Kyrgyz language. The company's mission is to be a reliable financial partner contributing to the economic development of the Kyrgyz Republic through the delivery of microfinance services in rural and urban areas that lead to increased employment and meet the interests of its clients and investors.

Presently, Bai Tushum's loan portfolio continues to grow while maintaining its high quality. The number of the clients is rising as well, currently totaling more than 30,000. Nearly 90% of our clients live in rural areas. This growth was made possible by the constant work on perfection of loan products, an effective marketing policy and the extension of the branch network. The branch network of the company has increased from year to year. Today we have 7 branch offices and 41 representative offices that allow us to promptly render services in all the key and remote regions of the country. It should be noted that the loan services of Bai Tushum are accessible and diversified. Loan products include loans for business development, trade, production, agriculture, leasing, mortgage, consumer loans and loans for business abroad. Some of these products are not only offered to individuals, but to groups as well. Group loans are gaining importance in the Bai Tushum portfolio as they are affordable for a broader clientele. In 2009, loans for agriculture as well as trade, production and services made up nearly 90% of the loan portfolio. Bai Tushum's loans have a significant effect on job creation, a core element of our mission. It is estimated that each $500.00 loan disbursed to a Bai Tushum client provided or helped retain the job of one person.
About KyrgyzstanKyrgyzstan is a small country with a population of only 5.5 million people and is considered to be in Central Asia. The mountainous, landlocked country is famous for its important role along the Silk Road and still serves as an important trade crossroad between Europe and Asia. Key sectors of the economy are: agriculture, mining and processing, manufacture and distribution of electric power, construction sector and trade. After gaining independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, the political and economic transition of Kyrgyzstan was complicated. Economic challenges remain high and the political situation is unstable.
