I loan because:
I was fortunate enough to be born in a developed nation whereas many billions were not. I have worked as a Kiva Fellow and have seen firsthand the difference Kiva makes. Plus it makes me feel good!

Bio:
Xanthi has 15 years extensive business experience in roles covering marketing, sales and supply chain across corporations such as Unilever, Kimberly-Clark and most recently Microsoft, where she was a Marketing Director. The question she is most asked about her time at Microsoft is whether she met Bill Gates. (The answer is a very fortunate "Yes!"). A number of factors have conspired and subsequently inspired her to take this career sabbatical: reading Muhammad Yunus's "Banker to the Poor" and Elizabeth Gilbert's "Eat Love Pray" as well as her passion for travel and social causes. Xanthi has travelled extensively across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, North America, South America and Asia, with a recent 540 km charity cycle trip from Vietnam to Cambodia further cementing her admiration for South East Asia. Beyond her Fellowship, Xanthi is hoping to improve her French and Spanish language skills, nurture her creative side and meet Oprah.

Honey I’m Home ( aka A Typical Kiva Day in the Office )
Sep 30, 2008
-
I am not a morning person. I know this about myself, but am starkly reminded of this fact when my alarm goes off at 6am. In a zombie trance I get out of bed, put the kettle on and have a shower. I put on the [...]
Same Same But Different

In Hanoi the tourist stalls in the old quarter are crammed with all manner of trinkets for tourists to buy. T-shirts are of course popular and there are many that contain that ubiquitous saying ‘same same but [...]
The Last Time I Was Considered Tall I Was 14 Years Old
Aug 13, 2008
-
I proudly remember how for the first 2 years of high school I was considered quite tall and got to stand for the annual class photo. From the 3 rd year onwards however I was eclipsed as puberty prevailed in [...]
Playing Chicken and Other First Impressions
Aug 7, 2008
-
Beep! Beep beep beep! This is the natural sound of the habitat that is downtown Hanoi. There is an endless cacophony of horns – sometimes short and squeaky, other times longer and more insistent. There is [...]
