Bio:
Extensive travels throughout the developing world have sparked Whitney’s interest in microfinance. Originally from Alabama, her studies in Costa Rica and Spain were just the beginning of global jaunts to Latin America, Europe, Southeast Asia, India and the North Pole. Whitney spent two years in DC working as a consultant in infrastructure development for the public and private sectors of Latin America, specifically in Mexico, Brazil and the Dominican Republic. She enjoyed contributing to improving the quality of life in Latin America on a large scale, but desired an opportunity to make a more direct, person-to-person impact – precisely what Kiva provides. Whitney will utilize her proficient Spanish and southern charm to introduce Nicaragua’s entrepreneurs to Kiva’s lending community. She also enjoys meditation, music and lounging in the park. Beyond her fellowship, Whitney aims to continue traveling internationally, hoping to pick up a Masters degree, Portuguese and the bachata along the way.
