I loan because:: It's a small thing - just $25 to assist another woman to make a better life for herself and her family.

In the normal course of events I would never even know of these women and how they courageously struggle to raise themselves from poverty.
About me:: OK, so I can't change the world. I would prefer if all the war budgets aimed at slaughtering each other were used instead to create a world where everyone had proper food, housing, education and health care. A world where social justice for all was the norm. But it's not.

Making a micro loan through Kiva is one small action I can take. One thing I CAN do.

I'm a member of the Red Hats on the Yarra group, we make loans to women who don't have the resources which we take for granted.

Do yourself a favour and join us. You don't have to be a Red Hatter, you don't even have to live in Melbourne! All you need is a heart - and the vision to see that Kiva is NOT a charity but a self-help scheme.
